Work
Our work divides into two areas of activity, artistic and producing as follows:
Own Work – Part Exchange Co Artists. Site inspired performances are developed through research and development, community engagement and collaborative processes.
Though initially inspired by and designed for a specific site we aim to create pieces that can be adapted for sites and spaces in other cities and countries.
The creative processes offers opportunities for a wide range of participants to get involved including new, emerging and established artistic practitioners, city communities and schools, colleges and universities.
This is usually through direct engagement with our own creative practice and the current work we are developing. This process of making work may include public events such as showings, showcases, readings of works in progress and exhibitions.
Hidden City Events – Part Exchange Co Producers. This area of our company is where we facilitate bringing together rafts of events and performances that complement and contrast our own productions and its themes to create a larger event and wider context in which work can take place.
Whilst each of these Hidden City Events is unique in itself and may take place over a weekend, a week or a season, the ethos is always to ‘experience the city in a new light’ by opening up and celebrating hidden and surprising spaces, places and perspectives in the city.
The aim is to present a fun, diverse and thought provoking programme of work whilst creating a critical mass of artistic activity and debate around a central artistic framing or concept.
The events might include at any one time, commissioning programmes, partner productions and events, young, emerging and established artists opportunities, twalks, visual arts commissions and exhibitions.
They will most certainly include things we haven’t even thought of yet!
