Points of Departure 2006 The atmospheric site of an old navy victualling yard was the backdrop for this cross art form performance project. PECo's first project in the city of Plymouth was supported by Urban Splash and involved composers, choreographers, actors and installation artists all exploring the ways in which a framing narrative can be carried and communicated via different art forms. The project culminated in a private showing and currently waits further development.

The Hidden City Festival, 2008 The Hidden City Festival used the city of Plymouth as inspiration for new site inspired work. Successfully drawing funding from Arts Council England South West, Heritage Lottery Fund, Plymouth City Council and partner organisations. Part Exchange Co worked with over 300 city-based and regional artists, writers, actors, directors, architects, historians as well as 250 community members, to unearth hidden histories and showcase talent alongside hidden buildings and sites not normally accessible or valued. Using local and regional artists across 99.9% of the festival, the event aimed to showcase both Plymouth the city – its buildings and heritage - and the talent in Plymouth and the near region, generating a creative critical mass and a web of connectivity across the city and the sectors. |

Hidden City: The Exhibition The exhibition shared the fruits of a four month project focussed on the city’s west end led by Eileen Lister http://www.cognivity.com/ with Belinda Dixon and Ruth Mitchell (Co-director of Part Exchange Co). Much of the project focussed on Colin Campbell House, the building which has also inspired the main Hidden City event for 2011: Drive In Deco www.hiddencity.org.uk The exhibition included a series of fascinating photos of the west end taken by members of the community who participated in the project, photography students and local professional photographers John Curno and Tim Mills from Hidden City partner organisation www.fotonow.org As well as being the focus of our Drive in Deco production, Colin Campbell House also inspired 3rd year creative writing students to write some poems, some of which were collected here too. We were awarded a Vice Chancellor's Enterprise Award 2011 from the University of Plymouth for our community engagement. The oral history from our exhibition will be archived at The Plymouth and West Devon Records Office
