Narrator: In October 2019 a team of visually impaired and sighted artists and collaborators took journeys together into the city of Bristol with the aim of uncovering the usually unheard stories of visually impaired citizens and returning these stories to the heart of the city narrative.
The journeys were recorded and revealed such a treasure trove of insights and shared experiences that the City of Threads podcast was born.
Sound design; segues in gentle piano music plays and weaves under narrator
Narrator: Each episode is hosted by core members of that team, and features the journeys they took
So join us, on an immersive audio journey into the City of Threads
Sound design; swells and gains momentum weaving between the following snippets
Lou: it’s like a reawakening isn’t it, of a place that you’ve always taken for granted
Alan: as I’ve told you I did what I wanted, always got into trouble for it, but it was worth it
Barrington: you’re born with sight but you’re lacking in vision
Anela: In the eyes of the general public, I appear not to have a culture or a colour, my dominant feature that stands out and what I would tend to be described as is, ‘the blind lady’.
Ant: [the sounds of fountains playing on the background] I’m just wondering it sounds more beautiful than it looks
Emma: Record Breaking Baby! – laughter
Nikki: And it is such a contrast for me when I look around. It’s like capturing one little thing at a time.
Jeff: the rustling of leaves and different sounds and even smells, that to me is music
Fanny: I just see the city in a whole new light now
Marcus: a couple of people panicked
Rosie: I can’t think of a better combination than love and romance
Sound design; music swells and fades down under narrators last words
Narrator: Series launch on March 25th
